What is the solution?
Vacationing closer to home, either by choosing destinations which are physically closer, or engaging in regular ‘staycations’ rather than traveling abroad.
This solution improves our resource security in the energy category.
How does it #MoveTheDate?
Tourism-related trips make up approximately half of airline passenger numbers. Reducing the distance traveled for tourism reduces tourism’s share of air travel emissions, which makes up 2.8% of global carbon emissions.
How is it scalable?
The number of international tourist arrivals has almost doubled since the year 2000, from approximately 1.3 billion arrivals per year to 2.3 billion. Therefore, providing ample opportunity for exploring destinations that are closer to home.
